The "A distance From B" is a linear distance only, correct?

Just want to make sure in case I missed something. The A “distance From” B is a linear (straight-line) distance value only correct? It’s not the driving distance or road distance, or is it?

For that I would need to use the Google Matrix API, correct?

Reference guide only states:
“distance from …
Returns the distance between the two addresses, either in the metric or US system.”

Yes, it is straight line.
